The Galaxy A50 with its top equipment at a fair price was one of the top sellers from Samsung last year. It is therefore not surprising that the cell phone manufacturer was one of the first models from the successful A-series to launch the successor model Galaxy A51 in 2020. Design and display: camera hole instead of notch
The 6.5-inch display of the Galaxy A51 is a bit larger than the previous 6.4-inch model, but thanks to its slim shape it is still comfortable and comfortable to hold. Both devices are equipped with Samsung’s Super AMOLED display with Full HD Plus resolution, whereby the resolution of the Galaxy A51 remained almost unchanged compared to the Galaxy A50. Both models also have an optical fingerprint sensor integrated in the screen.
The usable area of the display on the Galaxy A51 has increased again due to a narrower edge. In addition, the water drop notch on the Galaxy A50 has been dispensed with in the A51. Instead, there is only a tiny hole in the middle of the upper edge in which the front camera is installed. The omission of the Notch therefore gives the Galaxy A51 a more modern look.
Performance: Solid performance for everyday life
When it comes to performance, both devices are positioned in the middle class segment. The Galaxy A50 is equipped with an in-house Exynos 9610 processor that clocks at a maximum of 2.3 GHz and uses 4 GB of RAM. The Exynos 9611 is built into the Galaxy A51, although the differences between the two processors are minor. The Exynos 9611 processor also clocks at a maximum of 2.3 GHz and uses up to 4 GB of RAM.
Camera: triple vs. Quad camera
One of the biggest differences between the Galaxy A50 and the Galaxy A51 can be found in the camera equipment. You can take selfies with both models in excellent quality during the day as well as at night. The front camera of the Galaxy A51 has a resolution of 32 megapixels. In contrast, the 25 megapixels in the Galaxy A50. Battery and storage: Long runtime and a lot of space
With 128 gigabytes of internal storage capacity each, you won’t run out of storage space with either model. The approximately 107 gigabytes that are freely available are sufficient for numerous pictures, all your favorite music and also several larger apps or games. If that’s not enough, you can expand the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A51 by up to 512 gigabytes with a microSD card.
With their huge 4,000 mAh battery, the two models are currently among the smartphones with the best battery . With normal use, both the Galaxy A50 and the Galaxy A51 are guaranteed to last a whole day, with economical use even up to two days. The quick charge function enables you to regain full power even with a short charge time.

With the introduction of the Galaxy A51, Samsung has once again improved one of its previous sales hits in the mid-range segment. While the Galaxy A51 comes with a slightly larger screen, both models are at eye level in terms of display quality, processor, battery and storage capacity. The clearest difference is between the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A51 in terms of the camera with the further development of the already awarded triple camera to an even better quad camera.
